Designed to add a little more polish than our existing XBee to USB product. The interface adds plenty of extra funtions all wrapped in a smart black enclosure. Note: this interface does not come with an XBee or XRF.

  • Supports any XBee shaped pin compatible module (all types of XBee, XRF, X232, BlueBee, GPSbee etc).
  • Expansive PCB ground plane for better RF module performance.
  • Supplied with a very smart Hammond 1593K ABS black enclosure that is pre CNC milled for the USB connector and a knock out for an XBee RP-SMA pigtail
  • Has much improved noise supression in the USB data lines via additional ferrite bead.
  • Has 800ma voltage regulator so the full 500ma USB power spec can be drawn.

  1. Not got this working yet

Posted by Phil Duckworth on 11th Jul 2012

I recently bought a few XBee's and the FTDI box with a view to getting a remote temperature sensor going on a Raspberry PI. I've not managed to get the XCF software to talk to the FTDI box yet. Where as there is a lot of docs / info out there (eg on openmicros.org) it seems to be a bit "for experts, by experts", and I'm not really in that category!

  2. Just works, essential complement for XRF modules

Posted by PB on 30th Jun 2012

Makes programming and re-programming an XRF module a breeze. £20 very well spent.

Why 4 stars instead of 5? The XCM software to drive this is Windows only, and although it works very well is prone to crashing. Also the explanation for some the settings is quite hard to find.

NOTE FROM CISECO: Sorry we didnt get 5 stars, the XCM surce code is available and will (we hear) compile in mono. We would suggest using standard AT commands along with you favorite terminal software as the more reliable option. We are planning to improve the documentation now that all the XRF features are stable.
